Here you can find out how to crochet an easy crochet star. This is a really easy pattern, and perfect for beginners.
These crochet stars can be used as tree ornaments (decorations), a star applique, or even crochet star bunting!
This crochet pattern is written in both USA and UK terms.

How to make simple crochet star?
To make a simple star you’ll need to know how to:
- Make a magic ring
- Single Crochet
- Half Double Crochet
- Chain
- Slip Stitch
- How to sew in ends
- Block them if needed
I’d call these a beginners project, they are really simple, just a little bit more advanced than a granny square as they use a magic ring to start.

How to crochet a 5-point crochet star
When I see a star, I don’t know about you, but I think they should have 5 points, I think that was how I learnt to draw them in school!
So these crochet stars have 5 points, which means repeating the same thing 5 times, it’s as easy as that!

What Yarn to use for a crochet star
This is really a personal choice. I’ve made my stars using stash yarn in worsted weight and an I / 5.5mm hook.
>>>Brava has a huge range of colours
Each star takes 2.15 metres/ 2.4 yards of yarn, using a worsted weight yarn and a 5.5mm/ I crochet hook.
How long does it take to crochet a star?
These are a really really quick make. Each star takes only a couple of minutes to crochet.
My beginners video for how to crochet a star slowly takes 6 minutes, which includes the making of the magic ring and sewing in the ends!

How big is the simple crochet star?
The size of the crochet star will depend on the hook and the yarn you use to crochet it.
Each star measures about 6 cm x 6 cm (2 1/3 inches), when made with a worsted weight yarn a 5.5mm crochet hook.
You can make these with a DK yarn, and a 4mm crochet hook, and they measure 4.5cm x 4.5cm (1 3/4 inches).
