Today I’m going to show you how to a make a really quick and easy crochet rose. What I love most about this pattern is that it really is simple! The roses might look complicated, but as with a lot of things crochet, when you break the rose down into parts, they are really easy and quick to crochet!

Beginners Crochet Rose Pattern
Yes, these really are very simple to make.
You’ll need to know how to:
- Chain
- Skip a stitch
- Double crochet (US terms) Treble crochet (UK terms)
- Slip stitch
And that is it! Exactly the same skill you’d need to make a granny square, or a very simple easy flower.

What can you use Crochet Roses for?
Absolutely anything! I’ve used them to decorate the little Russian Cloche hats.
Or to make a keyring, or a bookmark, or more recently as decorations for my Summer Wreath Pattern.

Yarn for a Crochet Rose
These are the perfect Stashbuster. The only use a small amount of yarn, and you can make them out of any yarn with the appropriate hook!
I’ve made a lot of crochet roses out of mercerised cotton, as I love the sheen this gives, and the delicateness of them. My go too every time would be:
>>>Yarnart Begonia fine mercerised cotton
But honestly – any yarn with the correct hook size will give you an amazing rose.
How do you make a Crochet Rose Bigger?
This is a question I’ve been asked a lot! The easiest way to make a crochet rose bigger is to start with a longer chain!
My pattern below uses a chain of 32, start with a chain or 64 and it will be bigger, and then just complete the “ladder” and the shells in every space.
It won’t be double the size however, as then you wind it up, you will only be adding the bottom layer. As a guide for a flower double the size I would start with a chain of either 96 or 128.
This will give you a bigger flower, but it will also use a lot more yarn!
