This is simplicity as its best. Make a spiral rose bookmark, that looks absolutely stunning – but with a little bit of crochet know how – it’s actually surprisingly simple to make.
I’ve been teaching crochet flower workshops for a while, to beginners and more experienced crocheters alike.
One thing they all say is that they can’t believe how something so simple looks so effective.
Pair these with a simple leaf, and a chain – and a quick and easy bookmark in about 10 minutes! (The lazy crocheter strikes again)
Crochet Spiral Rose Bookmark
The crochet roses in the picture above were made with various mercerised cottons I had in my stash.
I think the dusky pink was a free little ball from Yarn and Colour that came with Inside Crochet magazine a while ago.
The Bright pink would have been a duo – quite a bouncy cotton.
And the light pink almost certainly Yarnart begonia, the cotton that I used to make Those hats!
The yarn you use (and the camera you use to take the photos and the background), can make a huge difference (see above!).
I used a lovely premium baby acrylic to make these ones above.
You can use the roses as an embelishment – or turn them into a book mark too!

These roses are a super quick and easy make – so lets get started.

Crochet Pattern and video
Ch16 (Leave a long tail as this will help you with sewing together)
2SC (Single Crochet) in the 1st Ch from the hook and every chain after to the end. Turn. (30SC)
Ch3 (Counts as a st), 1DC in the bottom of the Ch, 2DC in every chain after. [60DC]
Roll it round in a circle/ spiral and sew together.
For a bigger rose – start with a longer chain – but follow the stitches as above
I’ve made a handy video showing how to make this rose too – I’d love you to hit subscribe so you get to see my videos first.
Leaves – using green yarn
SC, HDC, DC, 2DC, DC, HDC, SC, SS to the other side of the chain, and repeat the above around the other side of the CH. Fasten off.
To make a book mark
Join yarn to the end of the leaf, ch 35, then attach a rose to the other end
These would make a brilliant teacher gift, and are super quick.
