Here you can find the free pattern for a crochet circle that is a granny square.
You can use this square to make a blanket, a bag, a cushion, anything really (even a nice coaster).
This pattern is an easy make, using just basic simple stitches, but with a little bit of added texture.

The Mélange Blanket Crochet Along 2023
This square is part of the The Mélange Blanket Crochet Along 2023 with Marie from Underground Crafter. This is a year long crochetalong, where 1 square from different designers is released every Friday.
You can read more about the CAL here.
Each square has to measure 6 inches x 6 inches (15cm x 15cm), when using a light worsted weight yarn, or Aran weight yarn a 6mm hook.

Easy Crochet Circle Pattern
This pattern is actually a lot simpler than it looks. I’ve called this an advanced beginners pattern. You need to know:
- How to make a magic ring
- Double Crochet (US), (Treble UK)
- Chain
- Front Post Double Crochet
- How to crochet in the back loop only
- Single Crochet (US, (Double UK)
In fact, just writing this up, I’ve realised this is very similar to this Crochet Circle Square – which has a full Video tutorial – just check the starting stitch numbers!

Yarn for a Crochet Circle Granny Square
I’ve used some 50% cotton yarn from my every growing stash to make this square.
I’ve made this is the summer, and I love this yarn for crocheting in the summer months as it’s a 50% acrylic and 50% cotton (no squeaky fingers). It’s Hobbycraft Cotton Blend plain – that is often on 3 for 2, and was used to make my square for the Hobbycraft 2023 blanket.
Colour choice, it needed to be calm, so blue green and white.
