I love a C2C blanket, but when it comes to adding a border to this great technique, it gets a little trickier to decide what kind of border can match a C2C or corner to corner blanket.
I’ll describe a few different ways you can add a border, that compliment a C2C blanket.
The picture above show my Guinea Pig C2C Blanket.
Which border is right for a C2C blanket?
This is where I have struggled in the past, deciding what border is the right one for a C2C blanket.
The chances are, if you’ve made a C2C blanket, that your blanket will be pictures, so you need something that ties in with this.
For the Guinea Pig Blanket, I went for a block stitch border, but modified to fit with HDC.
The Animal Along, I went for a solid border of HDC.
For my Harry Potter blanket, I still haven’t decided what to do, so I haven’t actually finished it!
How to add a crochet block stitch border?
To add a block stitch border to a C2C blanket, you need to do a “set up” row.
Using the colour yarn you want to have as the single crochets, in my case, the white.
Join the yarn by making a single crochet in between 2 blocks of the C2C
Chain 2, SC next ot the next block. Repeat all the way around, making a SC, chain 2 SC in each corner.
Fasten off.
With the accent colour, Join yarn in any ch2 space.
Ch2, 1 HDC in the same space.
In each space around make 2 HDC.
In each corner space, make 2 HDC, chain 2, 2 HDC.
Slip stitch to the top of the chain 2.
Fasten off.
Join white yarn by making a SC above a SC, between the pairs of HDC of the previous round.
Chain 2, SC between the pair of HDC around.
In each corner space, make 1 SC, chain 2, 1 SC.
Fasten off.
Join new colour yarn and repeat row 2.
Continue repeating rows 2 and 3 in order to get the border width you want.

To make a solid border for a C2C blanket
For the Animal Blanket, as each square was finished with a border, I just joined the yarn, and crochets 1 single crochet in the top of each stitch around, then repeated this with 2 more colours.
The Boho blanket, was very similar, 5 rows of Single crochet, followed by 1 row of crab stitch, or reverse single crochet.
