Hi, thanks for stopping by, here you can find the free pattern for a crochet flower I designed. It’s a wavy design and flairs out nicely, and is pretty simply to make, and is the perfect size for a crochet hat.

Using only US Double crochets, single crochets and a magic ring (But you could ch 4 and slip stitch to join), this is a simple but effective design.

How to crochet an easy large flower
This is a really easy flower to make.
It’s made using only (US) double crochets (The same as a granny square)- simple right?
How do you get the flower wavy
Well the easy answer if you do more stitches in each stitch.
Why this crochet flower?
I was emailing chatting to my new penpal in Australia, Louise from Red Haired Amazona, about flowers. She mentioned about a wavy flower, and while I love crocheting roses – I made a good few in the last couple of weeks so thought I’d try something new!
I remember making a wavy flower by accident a while ago – so thought I’d attempt it again and actually write it down now!
So – YarnArt begonia, 2.25mm hook, the challenge began!
This was the perfect flower as part of my centre piece Crochet Summer Wreath Pattern

Yarn choice for a crochet flower
I honestly think the yarn choice for this large crochet flower is what makes it stand out from other large flowers.
The yarn used is this case is a really fine, mercerised cotton (Means its got a shine).
I used YarnArt Begonia.
Now with a very fine cotton yarn, you need a very small hook! In my case I went for a 2.25mm hook for a very delicate effect.
(If making with Double knitting – use a 3.5mm hook and crochet pretty tightly and it will flair out!)
