Whoops – that was nearly a week ago, and between lockdown and School Summer Holidays I seriously have no idea what day it is now!
Last week on Saturday saw “Granny Square Day” with @Simplycrochet where the aim is to fill the Instagram grid with granny squares with granny squares that can then be made into a virtual blanket.

So this is the typical Granny Square – which we probably all associate with our Nannys (grannys) etc…… But they can be so much more!
Simply Crochet got in touch way back in the Spring to see if any designers would like to design a square for the day – part of a special 100 granny squares…… so it was too good an opportunity for me to say No to!
Issue 100 of a great magazine, and 100 granny squares
I love granny squares – from bold and bright, simplicity of my Geo-Boho Blanket
to a bit more intricate of starbursts and loads of colours
I have a favourite blanket that I made – and am yet to type the pattern up (sounds familiar I know).

That was a great experimentation with colours I wouldn’t normally use.
And from this blanket – this was how I decided what colours to make my square. (The picture below gives a great hint!)

Well it being me…. it was a circle and a square using texture.

Which one do you think is mine?
Luckily I got to feature on this page in the magazine before it got to my square.
Any ideas?
Well, it’s the one in from the right on the top row!
Called the Sunrise Square
Using Cygnet and Stylecraft DK, and fondant, citrus, and blue – so I’m thinking spring type colours.

The Sunrise Granny square – number 35 in the handy booklet in this months Simply Crochet Magazine – issue 100.
Back loops, FPDCs and Voila – a nice simple, but “full” granny square.

I had a go making one with slightly different colours too (and forgot the back loops!) – remind me
1: Read the pattern before starting (doh)
2: never to crochet black…….. ever again!

Happy belated Granny Square Day 2020
