How do you crochet a face scrubbie?
These are a very simple make.
You’ll need to know how to:
- Make a magic ring
- Single Crochet
- Half Double Crochet
- Bobble stitch
- Sew in ends
But I know some people are more visual learners, so I have filmed a video too.
What yarn to use for a crochet face scrubbie?
Crochet face scrubbies need to a be made in a 100% cotton yarn (as you’ll be washing them on a hot wash).
These are a brilliant stash buster for cotton yarns, as they use such a tiny amount. So if you have any leftover 100% cotton these would be perfect for this project.
If you did want to buy new yarn for this project

Other alternatives you could use include:

>>>Scheepjes Chalista would give a similar sized Scrubbie and comes in smaller balls.
Now – if you want to be Super Eco Conscious,
>>>Paintbox Yarns 100% recycled 100% cotton yarn.
But as I said before – left over 100% cotton yarn is perfect (and the more colours the better)

How long does it take to crochet a face scrubbie?
These are really quick to make, from start to finish they should take about 5 minutes to make.
I’ve recorded a beginners video, and even explaining all of the stitches they only took 12 minutes!
Pattern for the Crochet Scrubbies
As always, I like to give a little background into why I designed these.
I have a bit of a fascination with Bobble Stitch.
I thought it would give a nice different texture to the scrubbie, rather than a flat circle.

These scrubbies were also the basis of my Small Turtle Keychain Pattern which appeared in Crochet Now Magazine.
These were made with a 100% organic yarn, that was left over from my Eco Market tote Bag pattern.
How big is a crochet face scrubbie?
These measure 7cm, 2.75 inches across using a worsted weight and a 4.5mm hook.
These measure 5cm, 2.25 inches across using DK weight yarn, and a 4mm hook.

Rnd 2: 3bbl, SC [bbl, SC in next st] 5 times. Sl st to join to top of 3 ch. [6 bbl 6 SC]
Rnd 3: 1 ch , [2 SC in next st] 12 times [24 sts]
Rnd 4: 2 ch , HDC in the base of chain. 1 HDC in next st, [2 HDC, 1 HDC in next st] 11 times. Ss to join. Fasten off, weave in ends. [36 sts]
