I don’t know about you, but sometimes I just see something and then instantly know how to crochet it.
In this case – It’s a pineapple of all things.

Now don’t get me wrong, I never thought I’d be sat here writing about a crochet pineapple – but I am – so here goes.
This is just one of the many hat patterns I’ve come up with over the past couple of weeks – Have a look at the others here.
Materials
Using a 3.5-4mmm (ish) hook and DK yarn in Mustard and Green.
Abbreviations – USA terms
CH- Chain
MR – magic ring or magic loop
SC – Single crochet
HDC – Half Double crochet
Bobble stitch: *YO, though the stitch, YO, pull back through, YO, pull through 2 loops* repeat 3 more times, YO, pull through all the loops on the hook, chain 1 to secure the stitch. Make sure when you do the next round you make your stitch in the securing chain only (as you have an extra stitch).
3 DC Bobble stitch, Ch3, *YO, though the stitch, YO, pull back through, YO, pull through 2 loops* repeat twice more times, YO, pull through all the loops on the hook, chain 1. (The ch3 counts as the first part of the puff)
SS – Slip Stitch
Notes:
You are working in rounds. SS, and chaining (the appropriate number of stitches as noted at the beginning. These chains do not count.
Pineapple
Round 1: MR, 12 sc into the ring, SS to join, [12 SC]
Round 2: Ch3, 3dc bobble in the same stitch, SC, *bobble, SC,* repeat around. SS to join. [6 bobble, 6SC]
Round 3: Ch1, 2SC in each stitch around (bear in mind the bobble stitch creates 2 loops, only make stitches into one of these – I prefer to use the chain 1 to line things up. [24SC]
Round 4: Ch1, SC, * bobble, SC* *-* repeat around. Ss to join. [12sc, 12 bobble]
Round 5: Ch1, 1sc in each stitch around. SS to join [24sc]
Round 6: Ch 1, SC, * bobble, SC * *-* repeat around. SS to join. [12 sc, 12 bobble]
Round 7: Ch2, 1 HDC in each
Round 8: Ch2, * 2HDC tog, 1 HDC in the next 2 sts* repeat around.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Green stalk
Using green, MR, chain 2, 11 HDC in the ring.
Chain 10, in the 2nd chain from the hook, make a sc, and then 1 more sc in the next 2 chains, still working down the chain, make 1 HDC in in each chain, skip[ one stitch on the magic ring, and ss to the next. Repeat these 5 more times = 6 fronds.

To make up
Sew the top to the bottom using the tails from the green fronds.
