Here you can find one of the many crochet patterns I’ve designed as part of the the Big Knit Innocent Smoothie campaign – A Crochet Big Knit Cat Hat.
A lot of little hats, that get put on drinks bottles and raise money for charity. Today we have a Crochet Big Knit Cat Hat pattern.
These are great little stash busters, and can also be used as Egg Cosies too!

Crochet Big Knit Cat Hat
This cat designs starts with a basic hat as made here. This hat is made with HDC (USA terms) to give a quick hat that has a sold texture and is quicker than SC (Lazy crocheter)
I used Stylecraft Special DK in Sandstone.
So one basic hat in a colour of your choice – probably a colour that a cat is !
Big knit cat Hat Ears – make 2 of each piece
Big knit Cat hat Inner ear
Using light pink (Stylecraft Special DK Pale rose) , Chain 5, in the second chain from the hook make 1 sc, and continue to make 1 sc until the end. [4sc]
Row 2: Chain, 1, skip the first stitch, and make 1 sc in the next stitch, then 2sctog in the last 2 stitches. [3sc]
Row 3: Chain 1, 2 sc tog [2sc]
Row 4: Chain 1 1 sc, fasten off. [1sc]

Big Knit Cat Hat Outside ear
Using the fur colour, Chain 7, in the second chain from the hook make 1 sc in each chain across [6sc and 1 chain].
Row 2: Chain 1, 1 sc in the next 3 sts, 2sctog [5sc]
Row 3: Chain 1, 1 sc in the next 2 sts, 2 sctog [4sc]
Row 4: Chain 1, 1 sc in the next st, 2sc tog [3sc]
Row 5: Chain 1, 2sctog, [2sc]
Row 6: Chain 1, 1 sc, fasten off, use the ends of sewing the outer ear to the inner ear, and the ear to the head.
