Here you can find my basic Big Knit Crochet Pattern, I designed as part of campaign with Innocent Drinks and Age UK. If you are new to this whole phenomenon, volunteers crochet or knit little hats, that get put on the Innocent Drinks bottles, and for every hat they donate 25p to Age UK.
I have lots of free crochet patterns for the Big Knit Hats for Innocent Smoothies – this post is the simple easy basic hat pattern. Click below for my novelty hats.

I’m not a knitter by any standards, crocheter through and through here. It’s the speed you see, I love to make things quickly, and I am not a speedy knitter (although I can knit).
I’m also a very lazy crocheter, but we’ll go into that later.
So I thought I’d have a go at making some fun hats, and the patterns that go with them for ‘The Big Knit’. For those that don’t know, this is a campaign run every year with Innocent Smoothies in conjunction with Age UK.
People spend time making little hats that go onto the bottles, that then sit lined up in fridges ready for people to buy them. For each little hat, they donate 25p to the charity.
So for me, win win, I get to design, I get to use up tiny scraps from my ever growing stash, someone gets my creations at the end, and money gets donated to charity!
I had a quick look at the patterns they supply, and noticed out of quite a lot of cool designs, there are only 7 crochet patterns!
Yep, I know its called the big knit, but that takes away a lot of potential crafters, so I’m adding some crochet patterns for the Big Knit here for you enjoy.

Such a tiny hat, needs a small pom pom, so I used the fork method. Wrapping the wool around a fork 25-30 times, and tying. The cutting either side of the fork.

Left hat and right hats, change colour for row 7.
Middle hat, change colour on rows 4, and row 7.
