(Week 1 – of my Animal-a-long)
Her you can find the graph pattern for a crochet sloth I designed as part of an Animal Along I ran in 2019.

Today we have……… drum roll please….. a Sloth!
Yep, this whole blanket all started with a sloth!
Pretty apt really, when I think how long this project has been ongoing now!
I first started this project back in August 2018, last year!
A different sloth to the one I’m using in the blanket now.
It started with this little guy.
>>>But I do love a sloth – check out my sloth brooch here

Why didn’t I end up going with this little guy? Well, I thought he was too dark, and he needed some more definition…. this and I completely changed my mind from DC to HDC after seeing the great texture – so he was far too big!
So square number one, made using C2C (Which if you don’t know how to do it I have a handy video on this post – super slow for any new crocheters too.
I used HDC for my blanket rather than DC’s (USA Terms), so it’s just a chain 5 for each new block. The chain 2 counts as the first stitch in the block (Height of an HDC), then working in the 3rd chain, 3 HDC’s along. (I will do a video and post it here)
Design number 2 of Mr Sloth, and he’s a lot nicer and what I went with.

See the slight definition around his little face makes him “pop”
I love this little guy – so friendly looking, and so easy – with a few colour changes so a great beginner project to get your head around them.
For more info on the whole CAL – head to this post – with a few explanations!
