Easy Granny Square Blanket
Hi, Thanks for joining me. The No Brainer CAL ran as a series of posts starting in March 2020 as crochet-along (CAL). Luckily if you’ve joined me now you have the all the patterns ready at your finger tips right now.

The No Brainer CAL – Granny Square Blanket
Hello, It’s time for a new CAL – and this one is nice and simple – a no brainer in fact!
I started this one over Christmas, and I’ve just finished it today – so I know how much yarn you will need!
The inspiration for this blanket was “lets make something easy”.
Lets make something that:
- uses up a some of my every growing yarn stash (aka Stash buster blanket)
- keeps my hands busy, but I don’t need to think too much about it while I’m making it,

The answer?
Well the not so humble Granny square of course.
If you want to save this for later – please Pin it below

I love a granny square – I teach them as a great starting point to crochet as you working your stitches in the gaps, you learn all about the US double / UK treble crochet, and chains and slip stitches.

This was the granny square that started the whole blanket (and was then replaced at the last minute, as one colour just wasn’t sitting nicely with me).
Colours were a huge part of this project.
Rule number one (for me) no white in this blanket.
So what did I go for?

Yarn choice for the No Brainer CAL – Colourful Easy Granny Square blanket
My stash is mainly made up with Stylecraft Special DK, so as I dived into it, who knew what was going to come out.
It turned out to be:
Almost full balls (a little bit less is fine) of:
then 2 balls of the colour for joining – 1117 – Royal
Rainbow granny square blanket with only 6 balls of yarn ? Yep – read about it here>>>

It was go go go……..
If you want to raid your own stashes – 9 colours then 1 colour saved for joining – do not use this in the squares (Just keep it for later).

What else do you need to know?
Crochet Pattern
The pattern was released 2 squares a week, over 12 weeks.
All the colour combinations and orders can be found here>>>
The #NobrainerCAL runs for 13 weeks – 12 weeks of squares (2 per week if you want to follow me), one for the joining of the squares together.
The blanket measures 155 by 95cm (without a border – I can’t decide what to do yet)
It’s pretty colourful so should be good fun making it!
If you make it, I would love to see it and share it with everyone – so please tag me @offthehookforyou and use the #
